Sworn Brothers (Acrostic)

For dVerse (Theme: Drinking)

Sake shared to celebrate vows of brotherhood

Pirouetting cherry blossoms blown by the wind

I remember our adventures in the South

Recounting fondly while the alcohol warms us

Illusive sprites light up the evening with their glow

Tense nerves relax for the first time in many months

Sworn brothers drink together under moonlit sky

(The prompt was to write a poem about drinking. By some strange coincidence I wrote one yesterday as well. Just wanted to let you know that I have not turned into an alcoholic.

The picture isn’t entirely accurate. It depicts ‘the oath of the peach garden’ from the Chinese epic ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ where Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei swear eternal brotherhood, and share a symbolic cup of wine. I was going for a more Japanese samurai kind of vibe. )
